How it all started

Del Corazón is a Latin-American bakery that offers classic pastries and cakes with a taste of cultura. The bakery is a Latina-owned business born in the middle of the pandemic. Before Covid, Natalie Morales the pastry chef behind Del Corazón was working at a bakery in downtown Washington, DC and hosting bake sales on her days off as a side hustle. When Covid-19 hit, Natalie found herself jobless and a brand new mortgage on her hands; and NOW was the perfect time to make that side hustle a full-time hustle.

Natalie is born and raised in Silver Spring, MD, a DMV native! After graduating high school she went on to study Baking & Pastry and Food Service Management at Johnson & Wales University in Miami and later transferring to the Providence campus. From working at a Kimpton Hotel in Miami, a Mariott hotel in Puerto Rico, Daniel Boulud's DC restaurant, and the reopening of the Watergate Hotel in DC, Natalie has over 10 years of experience in the pastry industry. While working, Natalie didn't stop her education with just her degree, she has taken classes with Ace of Cakes, Pastry Chef Antonio Bachour, and Cake Artist Maggie Austin to name a few.
